Seniors, we are less than a week from graduation. This is something that we have been looking forward to for years and years. As kids, many of us only wanted to be, “big” or “grown up”.

Now we are finally grown up. We are adults and many of us will be on our own by Fall.

Life has hundreds of different paths for us to take. Many of us are going to college, some are doing service for their church, and others are going straight to work.

Everyone wants to be successful and make a substantial amount of money, and everyone has their own ideas on how to achieve that. Whether it’s through a trade school, college or another path, we are all going to have to work hard.

“For every obstacle, there is a solution. Persistence is the key. The greatest mistake is giving up,” said President Eisenhower, who was the 34th President of the United States.

If we do want to be successful and make a good living, it isn’t going to come easy. If we want to change the world, then we are going to have to get outside our comfort zones and push to achieve our goals.

This isn’t something that we should be scared of or back away from. This is a challenge we should embrace and look forward to. We really are the next generation and what we do will impact and shape the future we will live in.

This being said, we still have a lot of fun times ahead of us. College parties and meeting new people are always something to look forward to. We should still embrace the opportunity to have fun and have things to look forward to. But we need to be responsible. We no longer have our parents to keep us out of trouble, because we are truly on our own and can make our own choices.

“If you want to succeed, you should strike out on new paths, rather than travel the worn paths of accepted success,” said John D. Rockefeller, one of the richest Americans to ever live.

Seniors, we have the world at our fingertips. We are drenched in potential. If we want to be the best we can be, and change the world while doing so, we have to work for it. We have to dare to try new things and can’t be afraid to take risks. With this, I challenge you to always be willing to better yourselves and your situation every day as we go on this new chapter in our lives.
