On Saturday, November 10th, the Utes pulled through with their biggest November win against the Oregon Ducks.

Last week against Arizona State lost their quarterback, Tyler Huntley, which made people question how the team was going to perform against the ducks.

Riverton High senior, Nicole Clifford said, “Without Tyler Huntley, it was hard to think that the utes could actually win.”

They also lost their star running back, Zach Moss, during practice last week. But even without those two key players the team pulled through and got the victory, winning 32-25.

Jason Shelley, second string quarterback, threw for 262 yards with 18 completed passes, and two touchdowns. He was able to move the ball around surprisingly well.

Without Matt Gay, Utes could have struggled to score points. Setting the school record, Matt kicked six field goals on six attempts which definitely changed the game’s direction.

George Hunter, junior at Riverton High says, “Starting off the game I did not believe that the Utes would pull through with a win.”

At the beginning of the game, all fans stood in silence to remember college track star Lauren McCluskey. Both teams wore a foot with wings and Lauren’s name inside on their helmets. Lauren’s mom, Jill, thanked both teams for honoring her daughter.
